V3000 - No keyboard control through console

Hello -

I am struggling to get Ubuntu server to function through console. I am following this guide:

Everything functions as expected until after the grub options have been edited. The boot proceeds as expected, when hitting the pause for cloud-init, my keyboard is still functional and characters are echoed back. As soon as the cloud-init times out and the screen discussing rich vs basic display pops up, the console becomes unresponsive to my keyboard.

I have tried everything I can think of, including:

  • Completing the install through a directly connected display, but as soon as I switch to the console and the ubuntu login screen comes up, the console again becomes unresponsive to my keyboard
  • Modifying several of the grub options
  • Modifying the serial port bios options
  • And several other things found through googling

Any advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

can you provide the boot logs? Have you tested another distribution to see if this is perhaps an Ubuntu specific issue?

I was actually able to figure this out a few hours after posting this - the BMC seems to have been hijacking the console inputs and disabling the BMC seems to have done the trick. Thank you for your response though!
