# LX2160 Always restart on power failure

Does anyone know how to configure the LX2160 to always restart on power failure? I recently got a dual Honeycomb LX2 server and configured it following the guide at [https://solidrun.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/developer/pages/197494288/HoneyComb+LX2+ClearFog+CX+LX2+Quick+Start+Guide#Packet-Generator-using-DPDK](https://solidrun.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/developer/pages/197494288/HoneyComb+LX2+ClearFog+CX+LX2+Quick+Start+Guide#Packet-Generator-using-DPDK) then tested a hard shutdown by removing the power cords. When I restored the power cords I was expecting both devices to automatically start up but they did not. Instead I had to press each power button to get them to boot. I dug around in uboot a bit but didn’t couldn’t find the options I was expecting.

There is no software configuration for this. There is an assembly option on the board that needs to be populated to enable always on power. dual pin header J39 needs to be assembled and jumpered. It is right next to the 24 pin ATX power header.

I have a weird issue. Didnt check log yet but when I put the jumper on J39 and issue shutdown command I loose access. Device is on but never interupted and basically hangs. I guess some systemd-shutdown.target might get confused that the power is still there.
Well its weird to issue shutdown on always on server but this should be handled somehow smoothly

You are misunderstanding what J39 does. That is a hardware variant of turn on when power is restored. So the first time you plug in the cable, or if the device loses power from the wall and it is restored the device will power on. If you issue a shutdown command the board will power off and you will need to press the power button to turn it back on.

Its not the case. It does power on automatically after giving it power. But I am unable to shutdown with J39 bridged. Using PicoPSU 150W
